George Smith - Customer Services L3 - CCS Adoption
Age: 18
Programme: Apprenticeship in Customer Service Level 2
Employer: CCS Adoption
What were you doing before you started the Youth.Inc course? I was just looking for jobs when I came across the Youth. Inc scheme.
Why did you choose the Youth.Inc course? The youth.inc course looked impressive because I would obtain new skills and qualifications.
How will your Youth.Inc Apprenticeship help you in the future? I have progressed onto a business administration Apprenticeship placement with CCS Adoption where I have already learnt a lot about myself as well a gained experience that didn’t have before. I would love my Apprenticeship to lead into a full time contract with CCS adoption as I really enjoy my job and the people I work with. All of the experiences I have gained this far; will certainly help me in any future career I wish to pursue.
Did you enjoy the experience offered through your training programme? Yes, not only did meet new friends, but it is a great way of finding work as well as building up my CV. It also gave me confidence for my interview and gave me a heads up as to what to expect when I was in my interview.
How are you finding your work placement? I am really enjoying it so far and I’m learning a lot. I enjoy the environment and love the way we help people and create families; it’s a very rewarding environment.
What do you feel you’ve learnt from the Youth.Inc Apprenticeship programme so far? The Youth.inc Academy gave me a lot of knowledge about customer service and taught me how it fits in to multiple job roles. You don’t have to work in a retail shop or superstore to apply good customer service and I have been able to apply this to my work on my Apprenticeship placement.
Would you recommend Youth.Inc to anybody else? Yes, I have really benefited from the scheme and would recommend it to anyone my age who has been unsuccessful in looking for work. The programme really does work!
Jan Cleave from CCS Adoption had this to say about George’s progress: “George is doing really well; he is beginning to become more confident and he says he feels part of the team which is nice and the team are beginning to feel confident in asking him to do tasks. I think George has fitted in very well and is definitely an asset to our organisation. His knowledge of IT is really helpful. I think he has been impressed at how much he has actually learnt whilst he has been with us”.
George has not only benefited from the Youth.inc scheme by obtaining qualifications and an apprenticeship placement, but Youth.Inc is now the proud sponsor of the Bristol based band ‘The Cutoffs’ in which George plays rhythm guitar.
